Product Description
Susan Calloway, bullied and overweight, faces daily humiliation at the hands of her classmates—and she’s had enough. With her anger about to reach the boiling point, Susan lands in an alternative education class, a sort of group therapy for the nearly expelled. School is bad enough, but facing off with five peers, including her cruelest tormentor, is worse. Now Susan is being forced to do something she’s always avoided—talk about herself and listen to what other people have to say about her. She has two choices: find her voice, or be prepared to take the insults in silence. It won’t be easy, but alt ed may be just the last resort Susan needs.

I had to read this book for school. I opened it and read the jacket. "Oh, come on," I thought, dropping my head to my desk. "I'm going to be so bored."

Then I started reading it. And I started to get into the heads of the characters. The book wasn't very slow-paced and it kept me guessing what was going to happen. It depicted teenage life pretty accurately (although not exactly how it is).

When I finished this book, I was thoroughly entertained. The only reason this book got four stars was because I didn't think the ending was written well enough and had a few loose ends.

I would recommend this book to young adults looking for a quick and enjoyable read.

The fat girl, the gay guy, the tough girl, the guy who makes the jokes, the jock and the cheerleader. Not only do these sterotypes happen at school they happen in a book to. Alt. Ed had a combo of sas, spunk, and adventure for 6 kids. Some what like the Breakfast Club, you learn a newer version of that story. Most people know people that these issues have happened to or they know someone like one of the characters. This book covers a lot of problems that actually happen in schools all over.

This book helps you get into different personalities.

I really enjoyed getting into all the personalities that were in this book. Some were the tough kind, and some were the shy kind. Everyone is different and are really cool to get to know.
They all had to go to a group instead of getting kicked out of school. While going to this class, they learn more about each other and some come to find out they liked one another. The ending of the book is not the way i want it to happen.

Respect! That's what this books about...

Alt Ed is a very interesting book. It talks about all the stereotypes that teenagers have to put up with in high school. It shows how rude people can be to others. I liked how the kids had to get involved in the group. The group helped the kids open up to each other and to say what needed to be said. Without the group I think a lot of the kids would have gotten into even more trouble then they were in. This book is great if you want to teach others about respect and stereotypes.

This book is a good book to read. This book deals with people real problems, and real life road blocks. There is a girl who is over weight, there is a guy name Brendan that is gay. There are many more people invovled, but I'm not giving that away. Then all of the people have to go to a class call "Alt ED." They have to go to this class because they have done somthing in the past that they have to make up the consequences. And that is all the information I'm going to give out!!!
